KATE GODWIN HEALING

My story
I first trained as a massage therapist in the early 1990s with the aim of paying my way through dance training at the Laban centre in south London.

I was naturally drawn to energy work. I loved the feeling of the flow of energy in my body as I danced. When I began working with massage clients I soon found that I could easily sense the flow of energy in their own bodies and was able to help them to experience greater comfort, alignment and balance. By the end of my dance training I had built up a strong client base and my own healing ability was starting to emerge.

I continued to work on dance-based community projects while developing my massage therapy and healing work. I also trained in other bodywork techniques such as Zero Balancing and Craniosacral therapy while continuing to dive deeply into my own yoga and meditation practice.

During those early years, the massage and bodywork, dance and yoga blended strongly within me. I began to understand that we are vibrational beings far more than we are physical beings. My style of hands-on healing helps us to gain deeper awareness and alignment with this greater part of ourselves. I believe that the more we can relax into this union with our inner being/soul energy the better life gets in every way.

I visited a wonderful healer, Lynn Brown, in the mid-1990s. She encouraged me to find my own way of working in the healing arts and become a key teacher and mentor for me throughout my entire career. I am eternally grateful for her loving guidance.
For many years I found myself recommending yoga and meditation practices as aftercare for my healing sessions. In 2015 I began my yoga therapy training with the Minded Institute.

In 2016 I met my dear yoga teacher and mentor, Father Joe Pereira, the founder of Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga. I am blessed to be able to share his work in the UK, through my own teaching and hosting his events in London.

I currently teach Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga on zoom.
